[13 Jun, 5pm-6.30pm]
Happy Body by Ravid Abarbanel (O)
For anyone who loves to move. During the workshop, participants will explore different possibilities of releasing their body parts, give themselves over to gravity and resist it. They will look for pleasure in movement. With an emphasis on finding connections between the different parts of the body, participants will experiment with materials from the physical and movement realms that animate themselves, and together with the instructor, foray into new territories of expression.

The class has components of release technique and improvisation - practices Ravid Abarbanel has worked with in the past years. It focuses on the body, not fancy techniques and showy movements, to create movement that comes from within.

[13 Jun, 7.30pm-9pm]
MoDem Language by Fernando Roldan Ferrer (Compagnia Zappalà Danza) (A-P)
MoDem is the choreographic language developed by Roberto Zappalà for Compagnia Zappalà Danza. The concept behind the workshop is contained in “Omnia Corpora”, an essay written by the choreographer himself concerning his approach to choreography, notes and principles on the construction of his creations.

The most physical part of the laboratory consists of empowering both body and mind through a powerful and muscular work. The choreographer’s language is based on simple criteria: the connection to the flux, and to harmonies that the body develops thanks to a methodology hinged upon group interaction and contamination. Joints and body sections are selected and stimulated through a process aimed at exploring the countless possibilities possessed by the limbs in order to investigate, reimagine, and multiply body’s inner potential.

The visceral body is a key element in Zappalà’s work, just like instinct that identifies an apparent imperfection. Instinct and imperfection, together, are added values to movement in the choreographer’s vocabulary.

[14 Jun, 5pm-6.30pm]
Exploration of Breath in Choreography by Fabio Liberti (A-P)
The aim of this workshop is to share the result of Fabio Liberti's personal movement research and his choreographic practice.

Breath will be the starting and threading point throughout the whole practice. Participants will explore the action of breathing, the respiratory act as a physical experience and as a motion leading to what the artist has termed as "the breathing dance". Through this practice, participants will mobilise all body parts to find looseness and movement for each of them, approaching movement in different ways (within and without).

At the end of the workshop, participants will use some tools learnt through the practice to create a short sequence of movement to be able to share and dance together.

The workshop will be led from a private apartment and will be adaptable to all kind of spaces.

[14 Jun, 7.30pm-9pm]
Kinetic Listening and Contemporary Movement Creation by Rebecca Margolick (O)
The class is geared towards getting in touch with the body while listening and being influenced by the people around us. Influenced from visualisation, improvisation and various technical forms, Rebecca will work on mind-body connection and versatility while aiming to build a community through listening and participation.

Participants will push their physicality through a series of movements meant to work on coordination and finding efficiency and joy in effort. The class then moves towards movement generation, durational practice and finding and getting in touch with the body’s senses, emotions and capacity.

[15 Jun, 10am-11.30am]
Vessel Bodies by Syimah Sabtu (Open) [Kindy note that the Level of this class is "Open" instead of "TBC" as stated in the ticket.]
Syimah believes that bodies are vessels for an exchange of information from the presence of bodies and everything else in the space.

In this workshop, she shares her current focus in practice; exploring the connection in elements nested within herself or the bodies she works with - their histories, textures, beliefs and the stories they tell. Through this workshop, participants will be guided with improvisation tasks that aid in assisting participants to unlock, discover and explore movements.

Come with an open mind to explore and embrace everything and nothing beautiful.

Physical Strengthening by Ruby Jayaseelan (I) [Kindy note that the Level of this class is "Intermediate" instead of "Beginner to Intermediate" as stated in the ticket.]
This 90 minute class aims to increase strength, agility, and endurance in participants – using techniques from traditional Eastern practices such as Yoga, Bharathanatyam, amongst others. The focus will be on physical, mental, and psychological flexibility and power, to heighten the participant’s technique and performance in their own crafts. These sessions are highly recommended for physical practitioners, but are open to all participants at an intermediate level of fitness.

Ruby is a movement artist trained in Eastern dance and drama. To increase strength, agility, and endurance, Ruby focuses on mindful body movement. Specifically, the control and attentiveness of different body parts, groundedness within the body, and effective breathing. Her pedagogy include breathing techniques, stillness in movement, and somatic understanding.
